About the event
The Dressmaker tells the story of Tilly Dunnage who, twenty-five years after being falsely accused of murdering classmate Stewart Prettyman and run out of her Outback hometown of Dunnage by cross-dressing police Sergeant Horatio Farrat, returns to exact sweet revenge on those who did her wrong.
The film was co-written and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse and is based on the novel of the same name by Australian Rosalie Ham. It features an all-star Australian and international cast including Kate Winslet, Judy Davis, Liam Hemsworth, Hugo Weaving, Sarah Snook and Barry Otto.
Jocelyn Moorhouse has described this tale of love, revenge and 1950s haute couture as being like Clint Eastwood’s “Unforgiven with a sewing machine.”
